Energy Medicine is a broad term encompassing a variety of energy healing modalities such as acupuncture, Qi Gong, Reiki, Meditation, Therapeutic Touch and Yoga. In my practice, I integrate various forms of healing to meet individual needs and teach clients self-healing techniques they can practice on their own.
One way energy medicine works is by unblocking and rebalancing subtle energies centers, called chakras, in the body. The chakras are connected in some way to every aspect of our being—mind, body, and spirit—as described in my book, The Eight Aspects of God: A Pathway to Bliss. These eight aspects, as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda, are: peace, wisdom, power, love, calmness, light, sound, and bliss.
People turn to various forms of energy medicine to treat or prevent illness, relieve pain, manage headaches, release stress and anxiety, release toxins, or improve memory, performance, emotional stability, mental clarity, and overall sense of well-being.
After a session—be it yoga, meditation or an energy healing treatment—a person may feel very relaxed, sleepy, or deeply centered. Or they may feel invigorated, alive, and beaming with joy. It changes with each session and depends on the state of ones’ overall health at the time.
It’s estimated that more than one-third of Americans are embracing alternative medicine—energy medicine, such as the practice of yoga and meditation, is part of this increasingly popular healthcare solution.
