Meet Ruth

Ruth Stender, RYT®

My earliest memories as a kid are of living in a house with dirt floors, no plumbing and minimal electricity. My dad built our house as we lived in it. With eleven of us, it was crowded and filthy.

The chaotic energy inside our home affected my sense of peace and ease. I had terrifying nightmares and felt a dark energy lingering just out of sight in the dimly lit rooms of our dilapidated house. I craved a place like I saw in town, those houses that glowed like a candle, from the inside out; houses I imagined as peaceful and easy-going.

I used to crawl up in the open rafters of our house looking for a corner to hide, find a bit of privacy, and where I could relax. In good weather, I would climb the hillside where I’d move logs and rocks to create my own space under a tree or just inside a cave.

I remember how free it felt to have a place where the air flowed, the energy wasn’t thick, and every breath felt clean. Living in filth and chaos has left me with an appreciation of how important our physical space is to our health.

“Sometimes we can’t name what feels like bad energy, but we know it’s there.”

Clearing The Home

Soon after I started practicing energy medicine; I was contacted by a family to clear their home. Their five-year-old daughter was having nightmares and sometimes acted them out, which put her and the rest of the family at risk. After assessing the entire home, I cleared every room. I put extra focus on Amy’s little space. In addition to suggesting they adjust the location of a few physical items, I used a small amount of sage, moldavite incense and voice toning to clear the area where Amy slept. I returned two more times within a two-week period. A few weeks after my last visit, I received an update:

“Amy had started sleeping through the night for the first time in her life.”

I have worked to clear a wide range of spaces over the years. Getting feedback from clients like Amy’s family is affirming and reminds me of how important it is to our health and wellbeing to have a space where you feel safe and happy.

Sometimes we can’t name what feels like bad energy, but we know it’s there. I am very sensitive to “invisible” energies and can work with you to clear your space.

“I can teach you how to do it yourself…!”

Just like cleaning out the fridge, sweeping the floor, or putting away piles of clothes, you can make it a habit to clear the energy in your space. I’m happy to help you!

“My main interest here is with youth athletes because breathing habits can change the trajectory of their athletic career, which can be a game changer. Literally.”

Breathing

Breath is our life force—the link to our sacred essence. It guides us through challenges and reignites our light on the other side. Our breath is a gateway to the soul, where we find wholeness, joy, and inner peace. In this sacred space, answers to our deepest questions emerge.

My goal is to inspire others to reconnect with their spiritual essence, using the power of breath as a path to health, harmony, and happiness.

I am especially interested in helping people manage PTSD and those who are navigating the throes of addiction. I have learned to manage my own C-PTSD using the same tools and techniques I teach others. My personal experience regarding addiction is with family members; which fuels my desire to offer help in
this area.

And my desire to show athletes how correct breathing can enhance their performance stems from my own experience (suffering) in various athletic ventures. My main interest here is with youth athletes because breathing habits can change the trajectory of their athletic career, which can be a game changer. Literally.

“When you master your breath, your athletic abilities auto-magically improve because your body operates more efficiently.”

You don’t “gas out” so quickly and you feel stronger, longer. In my observations, most athletes (especially youth) do not breathe correctly, which means they are missing out on that extra bit of juice. If you want an edge over your competition, master your breath. It’s your secret weapon.

What I’m Reading…

My reading pile includes a diverse mix of genres—from spirituality to political to science-fiction—but, mostly, I read nonfiction. I am currently studying with Patrick McKeown, and his books are part of the coursework but are written for anyone interested in learning more about the science of breath. I have discovered a love for philosophy and recommend a few books that have captured my attention. As a student of the art and science of yoga, I recommend writings by Paramhansa Yogananda; in particular, his books on the life of Jesus.

“When you own your breath, nobody can steal your peace.”
